Here is my first essay. This essay was used to apply for Education USA Mentorship Program a few months ago. If you have anything in your mind, please do put a comment. Thanks a lot :)
My greatest inquietude came from the agrarian history of my people. Reading newspaper as a child, I found an aggravating fact about Indonesian rubber plantation farmer. They spend most of their time on the plantation only for a few dollars. Everything happened because of the material they produce worth almost nothing. The future itself never sides to them. In a globalized world, where trades become much easier and natural resources become cheaper, there is no place for a low-tech producing country like Indonesia. Let alone the live of Indonesian rubber plantation farmers. Premonitions wash my head as if I did nothing, their sweat would become blood.

On another timeline, I fell in love with physics. The first
time I learn physics, suddenly everything becomes very interesting. The grace
of a pendulum dancing through the choreography of physics is fascinating. The
beauty of a light spectrum projected as a rainbow. That minute I knew, I would
love to do physics to help my people grow.
Looking back into my recent studies in department of
physics, I enthusiast in material science and engineering especially in
nanocomposite polymer. I wanted to finish postgraduate studies in material
science. I believe U.S. provides the best teacher, the best research facilities
and the best research divisions in material science anywhere in the world. The
need to study postgraduate is because I wanted to pursue my passion in material
science. Becoming an expert in the field would help my people to develop their
products. I do not think undergraduate studies alone adequate. It will also
encourage more of my people to pursue studies in U.S.
The day I finish my studies in U.S., I would like to do a
job in research and development division prior to my studies. In 3 years, I
would start building my own company before moving back to Indonesia. I have
faith that I could continue on building the company in Indonesia. So this would
be the dawn of nanocomposite rubber industries in Indonesia. In long term, I
would like to get my hands on the Indonesian ministry of Science and
Technology. In the future, I wanted to be the Indonesian Minister of Science
and Technology. I want to be a good role model in science and technology,
giving an example leadership to my people. There is no better place for me to
follow my dreams other than U.S.
